"The ASES shall be designed to use the energy created primarily for on-site use.
(a) "Primarily for on-site use" shall mean that the ASES has been designed to only provide energy to meet the historical need or use of the existing residential structure and accessory uses. If the ASES has been designed for, or is expected to exceed, the historical use of the existing structure and accessory uses by more than 20%, it shall be considered a PSES.
(b) If the applicant intends the ASES to also capture solar energy, convert it to electrical energy or thermal power and supply electrical or thermal power primarily for off-site use, the installation shall be considered a principal solar energy system (PSES) (often referred to as "solar farm" or "commercial solar") and subject to the requirements of § 195-137.18D."
